Katie Stewart is a Texas girl through and through. Although Stewart is from north Texas, her songwriting and live music performances began after she moved to Waco in 2013. An artist from the beginning, Stewart was born into a family full of strings and piano. After 15 years of studying, competing and performing classical piano, she learned to play guitar and began live acoustic shows in 2014. As an independent performer, you’ll find Stewart’s shows sprinkled with thoughts on humanity and new-world reality.

Stewart’s music reflects a southern blues influence with a twist of folk. Her influences include Lightnin’ Hopkins, Willie Nelson, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Big Mama Thornton—just to name a few. Stewart won second place in the singer/songwriter competition held at the Elgin Hogeye Festival of Elgin, TX, in 2014. The following year she was invited to perform during SXSW festival in Austin at The Lion’s Nest Art Gallery, on east 6th street at the time. After performing for years in a variety of venues, she took some time off to refocus on writing. After a reset, and armed with new material, she was excited to return to performing live—but then, the global pandemic of 2020 humbled everyone around the world.

In 2021, Stewart recorded with Orb Recording Studios and Renowned Sound Productions in Austin and Waco, Texas, respectively. In 2023, she independently released her debut album, “Haunted,” featuring her songs as well as original music by Central Texas singer/songwriters, Bill Doss and Jeff Ward.

She has since returned to performing live and has been featured on various digital and print productions such as the Zack Owen Show, Live and Amplified, Texas Music Cafe, Texas Women in Music and Wacoan magazine as editor’s choice. Stewart is actively performs as much as motherhood allows, while also working on her next album with a hopeful release in 2026.
