Katie Stewart is a Texas girl through and through. Although Stewart is from north Texas, her songwriting and live performances began after she moved to Waco in 2013. An artist from the beginning, Stewart was born into a family full of music and often wrote poetry. After 15 years of studying, competing and performing classical piano, she taught herself to play guitar. While developing her acoustic style, Dennis Sullivan, and later songwriters Bill Doss and Jeff Ward, inspired Stewart’s sound from early on.

Performing live since 2014, her shows are sprinkled with thoughts on humanity and new-world reality. Stewart’s music reflects a southern blues influence with a twist of folk. Her influences include Bob Dylan, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mississippi John Hurt, Willie Nelson and Big Mama Thornton—just to name a few. She independently released her long-awaited debut album in 2023. “Haunted” highlights her songs as well as original works by other Central Texas singer/songwriters.

Stewart has been featured on a variety of digital and print productions and as been a guest on the Zack Owen Show, Live and Amplified, Texas Music Cafe, Texas Women in Music and Wacoan magazine’s 2025 Local Musician Editor’s Pick. In April 2026, she performed at the legendary Gruene Hall in New Braunfels alongside Austin non-profit Harmony Sisters. Stewart performs as much as motherhood allows, while also working to complete her next album with a hopeful release in 2026.

Known for a sound that weaves together country-blues, folk, and “old-soul” storytelling, Stewart has built a local following through her evocative songwriting and a vocal style that is often described as both haunting and grounded.
